Many Christians find it hard to believe that their "little prayers" could really make a difference in the course of international affairs or personal matters.
Most of this kind of thinking comes from a lack of understanding on the nature and practice of prayers.
Prayer is not just a good feeling or noble attitude. It is not some vague kind of influence that floats around and hopefully somewhere might do somebody good.
Prayer is the part we play in focussing God's purpose and power upon a specific point of need. God has given us the privilege and responsibility of working out His will on earth as it is in Heaven. He promises to back up our prayers of faith with His power and authority.
