As individuals, we "change" daily based on the experiences we face on that day. As such, it is important to "re-introduce ourselves" daily to our spouse, children, colleagues and friends. For newly-wed couples, it may be easy to do. Reasons being, there are fewer distractions. There are lots of time for meaningful dialogues, coffee and the sharing of activities. However, when children come along and work becoming more stressful, couples tend to stray away from each other and take their relationship for granted.
Unless we bare our lives with each other on a regular basis and convinced that we are "naked and unashamed", we will not be able achieve a level of intimacy.
